About the Historical Vintage Car Club of Delaware

Our Mission:

The mission of the Historical Vintage Car Club of Delaware, Inc. shall be to protect and preserve automobiles and the history, and to support the communities and citizens of Delaware through active partnerships with local organizations.  Our diverse membership will inspire and foster this fellowship through meets and tours, support of community events and causes, and administration of charitable contributions while helping fellow members in the old car hobby.
Our History:

HVCCDE was established on January 9, 1969 as the Historical Vintage Chevrolet Club of Delaware.  It was incorporated in Dover, Delaware on April 1, 1975.  The name was changed to the Historical Vintage Car Club of Delaware, Inc. on January 1, 1976.

Our club is a nonprofit organization for the purpose of protecting and preserving automobiles and their storied past, holding shows and tours, and to enjoy fellowship with our members in the old car hobby.

Our Vision:

In the early 1990's, Title 21 of Delaware Code was changed to strike the requirement that antique vehicle owners must belong to a car club in order to have their vehicles legally tagged as an antique.  Prior to the change in the law, HVCCDE was recognized by the State as an authorized antique vehicle inspection entity, and several of our members were certified in the State inspection process.  The change to this law saw membership numbers steadily decline.  The question then became, "why join a car club?"

The answer to that question came in a major refocusing of our mission in 2017.  We realigned ourselves to focus on charitable donations to our communities, using our shared passion for antique cars as a catalyst.  Today, HVCCDE operates car shows at Veterans homes, schools and VFWs, and supports organizations that benefit our Veterans, and our citizens.  Our members make a difference every day in the lives of people all over Delaware, giving new meaning and renewed purpose to this organization that we all love.

Being successful in this new vision meant that we needed to focus on ourselves first.  We spent most of 2017 redefining our image, and establishing ourselves as the most professional antique automotive organization in Delaware.  We freshened up our logo, redesigned our website, rolled out a new line of merchandise, and updated our by-laws.  We also entirely reinvented our car show model, which was implemented in 2018.  This new model proved to be a resounding success, and has resulted what has been described by many as the "best car show operation in Delaware."

But even through this extensive re-organization and re-imagination of our club, we held on to our "family" feel.  We're more than just a car club.  We're a close knit family of automotive enthusiasts who are passionate about giving back to our communities and the incredible people who call those communities "home."

Join us, and find out what we're all about!  You'll be glad you did.
